The Skeeterflip Report #3
It was an interesting week here at The Tooth Fairy Company. And by interesting, I mean not at all what you'd expect.
The tooth fairies had all signed up for a training class called "Crafting and Executing a Strategy for Tooth Fairy Success." This week-long class teaches our tooth fairies how to be a great tooth fairy. It's a popular class, and it filled up right away.
At the end of the week, each tooth fairy had to give a presentation and share their advice on how to do a good job as a tooth fairy.
And this is where it got interesting. The instructor asked each of them to try out one of these tips. In other words, do something they normally wouldn’t do as a tooth fairy and see what happens.
Ariafee had talked about how she writes songs for the children whose teeth she picks up. Flitterfee decided this was something she wanted to try also. So at her next tooth pick-up, which was at a little girl’s house, she started to write a song about this little girl’s happy tooth.
Half way into the song, however, this forgetful tooth fairy forgot what kind of song she was writing, and ended up with a song about fuzzy sweaters, crunchy carrots, and swimming pools.
Clearly, the song made no sense and had absolutely nothing to do with teeth. But because Flitterfee was so focused on writing that song, she didn’t have time to lose the ToothLoot, like she normally does. So, you could say, that writing a song, no matter how silly of a song it was, actually helped her be a better tooth fairy.
Mischiefee had talked about how he doesn’t like to leave the ToothLoot under a child’s pillow. Instead, he likes to create some fun by hiding it and leaving clues about how to find it.
Bumblefee thought she’d give this technique a try. And, wow, it worked out so well. As you know, Fweebolwitz, the naughty tooth fairy, often shows up during Bumblefee’s tooth pick-ups and tries to steal the ToothLoot she leaves for children.
Well, Fweebolwitz could not figure out any of the clues that Bumblefee had written, and so he couldn’t find the ToothLoot and steal it. It was a very happy day for Bumblefee. She celebrated by picking up a box of doughnuts.
Smigglesfert also thought he’d try writing and hiding clues. But he got so excited while he was putting these together that he started sneezing, and his sneezes blew those clues all over the room, mixing them up and getting them all out of order.
Of course, that stressed him out, so he started sneezing more. The more he sneezed, the more the clues blew all over the place. Thankfully, he had the peace of mind to scrap this idea before the child woke up. And, in doing that, he learned a very important lesson: you have to figure out what works for you. And for Smigglesfert, it’s best – at least at this point - to stick to the basics.
